Why Learn with a Former DVSA Driving Examiner

Learning to drive is one of the most important skills we gain in life, so it should really be viewed as an investment rather than simply a cost. Many people will spend a great deal of time trying to book an earlier driving test, often when they are not ready and sometimes against the advice of their instructor. This can lead to repeated test attempts and additional test fees, costing hundreds of pounds. In reality, that time and money is often far better invested in quality instruction that properly prepares a learner for the driving test and for safe driving afterwards.

For that reason it is worth knowing that I am a fully qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor and display the green instructor badge in the windscreen. Some instructors you may come across are still trainees and display a pink badge while they are qualifying.

During my time with the DVSA I conducted driving tests for cars, extended tests for disqualified drivers and vocational tests for larger vehicles. I saw first hand what separates confident, capable drivers from those who struggle under pressure.

Learning to drive can feel daunting at first. That is completely normal.

My approach is calm, patient and supportive. Many learners tell me that the biggest difference they notice is how relaxed they feel during lessons.

Clear explanations and structured guidance help remove the uncertainty that many learners experience during the early stages of learning.

Confidence grows naturally when learners understand not just what to do, but why they are doing it.

Realistic Mock Driving Tests

As a former DVSA Driving Examiner, I am also able to offer realistic mock driving tests for learners who want to experience the pressure of a test before their real one.

These are particularly useful shortly before a practical test because they provide a clear picture of how a learner is likely to perform under test conditions.

The mock test follows the same format as the real driving test and is followed by detailed feedback so that any final areas for improvement can be addressed before the real test.

Many learners find this experience significantly reduces nerves on test day.

Intensive Driving Courses

For learners who would prefer to learn over a shorter period of time, I also offer intensive driving courses.

These courses are particularly suited to learners who need to pass quickly. This may be during school, college or university holidays, before starting a new job, before a theory test certificate expires, due to another urgent need, or simply a desire to obtain a full driving licence quickly.

Some learners choose to begin with weekly lessons before moving into a more intensive approach once they feel ready.

Training remains structured and focused so that learners build the skills and confidence needed not only to pass the test but to drive safely afterwards.
